Our favourite decor shops

The SA Home Owner team is passionate about design and decor and are constantly on the hunt for new shops and items to spruce up their homes as well as the pages of our magazine. That’s why we’ve decided to ask some of our team members to tell us about their favourite local decor shops.

Deputy Editor, Hasmita Amtha says:

I’m in love with a few from Tonic Design, OKHA, Egg Design to Imagine Nation, Lucky Fish and the Tin Table. Having started out as a decor stylist, my love for furniture and decor is rather eclectic, and these stores are reflective of my style. Tonic Design, OKHA and Egg Designs specialise in bespoke furniture, which is exactly why I adore them – you are bound to find interesting and unique furniture pieces, while Imagine Nation, Lucky Fish and Tin Table have smaller items like scatters and lamps, which are sourced from all over the world.

Tonic Design, Tin Table and Egg Designs are on 3 Desmond Road, Kramerville, Johannesburg; Imagine Nation and Lucky Fish are at 44 Stanley Avenue, Milpark, Johannesburg and OKHA is at 109 Hatfield Street, Gardens, Cape Town.

Art Director, Annie Fraser says:

My favourite decor shop is Peter Thomas Interiors. The shop is French-inspired, elegant decor. I have bought a few pieces d’ Objec that take pride of place in my house. It resonates with my decor style and I always find exactly what I am looking for. I have also used some of their pieces in photoshoots over the years. They have soft furnishings, beautiful ceramics and vases, gorgeous gifts for friends and family, exquisite candles and beautiful scented room-sprays and diffusers. They also offer interior decorating services complete with wallpaper collections to peruse.

Durban Account Manager, Avrial Elias says:

I love popping into Shoppe, which is situated in the pebbled courtyard of Market restaurant.  They have such beautiful local creative works, which include ceramics, artwork and very unique up-cycled and repurposed goods. This small store has wall-to-wall goodies and could take you hours to browse through everything before purchasing something. Definitely the place to shop for home and decor gifts.

My favourite decor store is Anatomy Design. They specialise in homeware, lighting, furniture and kitchenware. I like it, because the products have clean and simple lines, but are still chic, which is the style I like.
