2013 is producing many unique and customisable interior decor trends, by simply and cleverly combining existing trends and repackaging them into some striking new looks. The philosophy of less is more is one of the most important design philosophies in 2013 and is emphasised by the following trends:

Crown mould draping

A style that is making a reappearance is crown mould draping. For a more simplistic look, curtain rods have become almost invisible to the eye. By placing a bulk overhead or hiding the curtain rods behind crown mouldings, only the drop of the curtain can be seen. This modernised drapery draws the eye up towards the ceiling and accentuates the height of the room. Creating a clean look on the walls allows home owner’s to focus on the smaller details the room holds.

Monochrome

A classic trend is the monochromatic interior look, and this can be seen in black and white linens, paintings and general spaces. Even though it is a simple palette, interior designers love the black and white theme as it is guaranteed to add impact and drama to any room in the house. Cushions are the easiest way to experiment with the trend and allow you to gradually introduce the monochrome trend into a room. The neutral black and white monochrome trend emphasises extreme contrast and therefore allows home owner’s to freely experiment with their creativity.

Green interiors

Vertical gardens are a unique way to incorporate nature into small spaces, however Greenworks has taken the craze to a new level. Its indoor “living furniture” such as Mobile Plant Panels and Greenscreens (framed plant paintings) add a fresh touch to the modern interior. These unique decor features will not only add interest to your indoor spaces but also help to filter polluted indoor air. We love the Moving Hedge, a “double-sided plant wall on wheels with automatic watering system and pockets for plants”.
