This home, which was designed by architect Paul Boshoff of Urban Concept, was created in a Highveld farm style, a trending design that alludes to old-world times, with new-age functionality.

According to the architect, a composite block in old historical farmhouses is where it all begins. He says that one starts with the basic structure of the house from a single block, and this usually evolves into an L-shape, H-shape or U-shape for added combinations.

In this instance, the basic design was a bit more stylised in order to fit in with the regulations set forth by the estate. Part of these guidelines means that one cannot have a simple structured home. It has a “village feel” and so certain structures grow together. Paul believes that presentation is the most important thing, and always creates structures that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

This design works perfectly with this home, which makes use of interesting little decor features to accent the theme. Take, for instance, the fabulous staircase flanked by two elegant and sophisticated white pillars for regal charm.

Even the balustrading in this home is ornate, as extreme attention was paid to each individual detail. This is also seen in the elegant choice of artwork as well as other fine details like clocks and ornaments.

The interior of this home makes use of both dark and light wood for comfortable warmth, as well as brick and stone cladding for traditional beauty. An ornate fireplace accents the living area, with magnificent decorative feature artwork that enhances this area. The colours used include cream, white, pale gold and a slight hint of red – creating a cosy hue throughout the interior.

The country-style kitchen has the same traditional design that echoes throughout the entire structure, adding yet more timeless elegance to the stylish home.

The garden is the perfect setting for this farm-style house, which is large and welcoming.
