What you see is what you get. This property is all about keeping it real – a no-frills, modest home that suited this young Durban couple down to the ground.
Set on a well-known Durban North coastal estate, the plot came with unobstructed sea views and a build package with house design that really appealed to the couple. With active input into the final design, the owners made a few structural changes, and were also fully involved in choosing material finishes. “We wanted our home to be inviting and open-plan in design, with great flow from room to room. We also wanted our guests to feel at home here, and that they could kick their shoes off and put their feet up,” they say.
Comfort and style resonate throughout each space. Coastal elements are incorporated through washed timbers, seagrass carpets and sparkling azure tile splashbacks. The colour scheme is predominantly soft grey, with feature wallpapers making an appearance in two of the three bedrooms. Soft furnishings have been tastefully selected to complement the easy-living ambience.
On the exterior, timber cladding adds richness and texture. The simplicity of the pool area suits the character of the home and makes for a great entertainment space when the lounge doors are fully stacked back. The home offers an uncomplicated, stress-free living experience. As first homes go, this couple made the perfect choice.
