This beautiful timber home in subtle shades of white sits firmly on one of Cape Town’s most naturally white beaches.

The true magnificence of Yzerfontein Beach, that exudes peace and tranquillity, can only be appreciated when visiting regularly, say the locals. An unspoilt West Coast fishing village, it reflects the natural beauty and simplicity of the area that is best known for its hospitality and tranquillity. One of the many attractions of this quaint seaside village is the 16-mile long beach, beautiful spring flowers and breathtaking views.

This elegant seaside home is one of the owners’ two beach houses featured among other spectacular properties by Amazing Spaces, marketers of world class locations to the film, photographic, events and accommodation industries.

The owners say that the superb lifestyle that comes with small village living is the main reason for them building a second home on this pearly white West Coast beach location. For them, having a home here is about escaping the city in a manner that is convenient, not time consuming but that leaves the family as well as their visitors energised to enjoy their weekend getaways without the burden of tiresome organisation and lengthy travelling.

To build a second house at the same location has many benefits, say the owners because it provided for additional time spent in selecting the most suitable fittings and finishes. Another added luxury was provided by saving time on other planning issues, such as using their builders, Rustic Homes, for the second time round.

From a design perspective, they say it was the joint effort with Pieter Silberbauer of Rustic Homes, who understands their needs completely and who is also a pleasure to work with, that made for such a successful building project. They say it provided them with extra time to get stuck in and do the decor themselves, and make a real project out of it. One of their priorities was to maintain a simple minimalist approach that fostered a background to the fabulous outdoor views and nature.

Light timber tones in combination with rich timber flooring created restful interior spaces. The interior design that allows for maximum light to enter at all angles, highlights uncluttered areas and features stylish designer fittings and finishes by On Tap and Handles Incorporated. Designer window and door shutters in light tones by Plantation Shutter Inc. allow for flexible light. For the cold winter months, a central heating system was installed by Fire and Gas Lifestyles, in a position where the magnificent beach views remains visible through large sliding doors and windows.

Lastly, the owners say that because they are such serious foodies who do fabulous cooking in their getaway home with friends and family, the kitchen was designed to be a fully accessible open-plan environment. They say this was done for the purposes of allowing creative cooking and experimentation with local organic produce to become the centre of conversation and activities, “with like-minded friends chopping, and clinking glasses, from kiddies to grannies”. For these fortunate owners, their Yzerfontein home is undoubtedly a magical place, that has crept into their hearts and continues to create memories to last a lifetime.
