Luxurious living requires little effort from this family of five, who live in a home that does all of the work for them.

The home owners wanted the exterior of their house to have a wow factor – and it certainly does. Finished in stone-inspired graphite cladding at the entrance, it features a smooth, natural-coloured facade complemented by glass doors and balustrading.

For the interior, the vision was for something simple and sophisticated: a clean look that would have a contemporary style with a timeless character. An open-plan space on the ground floor works well for the large family, who love to entertain – a sitting room, dining space and kitchen flow into one another, allowing the whole family and their guests to be together, while in separate spaces.

Leading off this space is an entertainment area, which can be closed to the outside by frameless glass stacking doors. On most days, however, the doors are opened up onto a luxurious swimming pool and tiled deck. The infinity-edge pool flows onto a lower level, which is spacious and grassed – perfect for large get-togethers and a magnificent way to make the most of long, sunny days. The view from this deck is a grand picture of city and sea in the daytime, and a galaxy of twinkling lights after dark – a special treasure for the home owners.

The ground floor is characterised by clean lines and soft, natural lighting. In order to break this mould, for a splash of excitement, the guest bathroom takes on a new personality: dark walls (one being textured), with crystal lights and finishes that have a royal effect.

The four bedrooms are on the first floor, which can be closed off to the rest of the house by a state-of-the-art security shutter. The bedrooms all have en-suite bathrooms and splendid views. Each family member had a personal say in the design of their bedrooms, so their personalities are uniquely reflected in each space.

The large master bedroom boasts a spacious bathroom and extended closet space. There is a spa bath on the balcony, from which the home owners can enjoy the spectacular views and tranquil sounds of their surrounds.
