These owners lived in Johannesburg for 27 years and then retired to Wilderness. A move after that to this gated community in George then made perfect sense. “We wanted to be closer to medical facilities,” says the owner. “The garden route area is blessed with a very moderate, relatively wind-free climate with a pollution-free environment.”
This property is located on a gentle north-facing slope in the Southern Cape, where the harvesting of sunshine in winter was achieved by large north-facing windows and frameless glass doors. Energy efficiency was important to these owners and the property incorporates LED lighting, a heat pump for hot water supply and extra insulation in the walls, floors and ceiling.
