Danielle Moudaber’s London home

Written by Jess Binns

Some homes are pleasing to the eye, that usually follow a natural palette and don’t take many design risks at all, but then you get homes that make you sit up and take notice for going completely against the flow – these ones bare the soul of the occupant whether they’re deemed stylish or not.

This London-based home belongs to interior designer, Danielle Moudaber, and it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. As a designer there is normally an amount of restraint when producing schemes for clients, but when the client is yourself you have complete freedom to indulge in all your passions within the interior world.

Originally from Lebanon, Danielle has extracted influences from differing cultures throughout her life and profession, and this plays a major role in the design of her home.

Her quest, ‘to soothe her soul’, brought fond memories of the Mediterranean – hence the soft blue tones throughout the interior. The unique pieces, which adorn each space, give off an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ feel – take the staircase for example, where you can see the influence of a whale’s ribcage.

I love homes like this, and perhaps it might not be your cup of tea, but it gives such a strong sense of the owner. Perhaps we are all a bit guilty of following the norm; perhaps it’s time we took risks and handed over the decorating reins to our inner-selves, and see just how far it goes?
