FAC-ET exhibition

Written by Shereen Lurie

Keri Muller & Anna Raimondo have joined forces to bring you FAC-ET, a collaborative exhibition of jewellery and objets d’art at Tinsel Gallery in Johannesburg.

Taking place at Tinsel Gallery, Fac-ets’ grand opening is on the 27th August 2016 from 10am-3pm. Guests can expect beautifully hand crafted one off pieces designed especially for this show. Both designers are known for creating unique and quality work and together will offer a variety of products for purchase including art, home accessories and jewellery.

For this exhibition Muller and Raimondo considered how jewellery is perceived as a personal totem for the wearer, consciously or un-consciously. The concept that Totem poles hold a resonance for a place, just as jewellery historically resonated with a specific place, inspired them to explore the ways in which people are connected to the earth and hence where materials came from.

As a result, they chose to try and use materials that only occur in Southern Africa. A point of interest and frustration was that through sourcing, they found it impossible to determine if the actual stones came from Southern African soil. They came to the conclusion that is impossible to determine providence.

Fac-ets, opening 27th August 10am-3pm. 11 Cecelia Ave, Risidale.
