Intriguing and cherished

By Heidi Olivier, Project Consultant Monique Rankine, Property Coordinator Marlize du Rand, Photographer Nic Baleta

The intent when building this home, which is situated in a 480-hectare exclusive private eco residential estate, was to explore the use of steel in the structure as well as cladding and privacy screens as a choice for the finishing touches. The use of these elements can be clearly seen in the custom curved steel roof, the corten-cladded (weather-resistant steel) fitness room and the screened external foyer. All these features help create a sense of sophistication and refinement.

The positioning of open space verses private space was carefully planned to allow an open, free-living home with adequate privacy. The interior is predominantly modern with clean lines, uncluttered spaces and carefully selected furniture pieces. “Our home was designed to be intriguing and to create a sense of curiosity,” says the home owner.
