Kate Moss’s debut into interiors

Written by Jess Binns

2015 saw the iconic supermodel, Kate Moss, turn her hand to interior design, amoung UK-based design team YOO. The house in question is part of The Lakes, a residential, second-home development in the heart of the Cotswolds. Aptly named The Barnhouse, the five-bedroom home has its own one-acre plot of woodland, cocooned away from the other houses, offering a unique getaway for city dwellers.

Drawing on the hidden-gem factor, Moss has created an interior that is far from ordinary, yet it sits so comfortably within its natural surroundings. Kate describes the look as “eclectic”, taking reference from the 1920s right through to the 1960s.

The open-plan kitchen and lounge area is rich with warm tones and natural materials; this look and feel blends well with the exterior, which opens out into the woodland beyond. The bedrooms, on the other hand, are decked out with luxurious furnishings that are more Miami than countryside Cotswolds. This is by no means a negative; I find it refreshing and unique, and it gives insight into Kate’s tastes and how she has drawn inspiration from her own rock ’n roll life.

If I were to sum up this home, I would liken it to a getaway of a once-famous actress from a bygone era who has hidden herself away from the public to live a life of seclusion, still possessing the glamour and panache that made her shine on set. Just think of Marilyn Monroe in her wellington boots!

Best wishes,
