The stand that these home owners chose to build on is approximately 20 acres – 80 000m2 – in size, with a vast water frontage. The estate in which the stand is located was developed on a working farm and has over 400 head of game roaming the property. “We grew up boating on weekends and loved the idea of our kids growing up with the same experiences and wanted a weekend getaway to get away from it all,” says the home owner.
This striking home radiates a feeling of barefoot luxury where everyone feels welcome. With the home owners building it themselves, no main contractor was used, so the home was designed to be easily constructed.
The home is almost 630m² and built on a tight budget, so every aspect had to be designed as efficiently and economically as possible, yet be visually striking. Another must for the owners was that the home be eco-friendly, off the grid and sustainable.
