Looking for an ultra-modern design, the home owners briefed Marais 4 Architects that the home needed to be “quite unique in style, and had to maximise the views over the golf course,” on which they are situated.

Marius Marais, from Marais 4 Architects, says: “We wanted to pick up on the soft organic shape of the golf course and decided to introduce some curves while contrasting with orthogonal planes on both the plan and elevation”.

The golf estate is a tranquil and peaceful environment, which offers its residents a habitat where they can relax, unwind and become one with nature. With this in mind, the architect used natural elements like stone cladding, which brings warmth to pick up on the environment, and used natural slate stone to provide a warm yet contemporary feel.

In keeping with the golf estate’s Home Owners Association, the homes built needed to be created with a design vision that embraces a sense of wide open spaces; there needed to be room to breathe, to explore and to simply be content as a family in the great outdoors. Marais 4 Architects took this project on, and provided the home owners with an establishment with “big windows, and sliding folding doors that lead out onto a luxurious covered patio”.

Marius adds: “We wanted to combine the modernistic ideology of shifting planes with an interesting roof form. Clear storey lighting assists in natural warming of the house in winter and promotes green energy.”

The interior of the home is precisely what the home owners sought; decorating with splashes of purple and natural stone, the home exudes a personality that is reflective of the owners and their lifestyle.

From conception to completion, these home owners could not be happier that their dream has materialised into a beautiful home.
