Spacious practicality is what the owners of this beautiful home requested. And that is exactly what the architect, Euro Prop Design, created. The home is characterised by large windows and elegant features.

“We envisioned our home to be modern, elegant and timeless, with a contemporary feel,” says home owner Dr Singh. Her husband, Dr Govender, agrees. “We are a couple with two young children and we imagined a home that was both practical and spacious.”

Their overseas travels were the inspiration for the design. “Our travels overseas inspired us to create a home that is modern and contemporary,” says Dr Singh. The location also played a role in the design. “It’s an elite, upmarket area and has a peaceful and serene setting. The design of the estate is modern, and the open, suburb living appealed to us.”

Using the services of interior decorator Frans Alexander, the owners ensured that the inside is as impressive as the outside.

Their favourite room is the master bedroom, with its massive headboard and soft colours. “The luxurious feel, the pastel shades and textures of the interior make our room a warm and cosy place in which to unwind after a hard day,” she says. The large bathroom features a luxuriously deep bath, a white vanity and a shuttered window.

The kitchen, not to be outdone by the rest of the house, is a chef’s dream. The metallic units with white gloss finish underneath created the perfect modern look.

The home owners were thrilled with their new home. “We were mesmerised, and felt a sense of pride and accomplishment,” Dr Singh says.

Having gone through the building process, she has this to say: “Use the services of an interior decorator who takes into account your personality and style. Have an idea of what type of home you want to create, and of all of your requirements in advance, and ensure proper communication between all service providers.”
