Sleek sophistication and refinement are just a few words that accurately describe the Fairway Hotel and Spa at the Randpark Golf Club.

The Fairway Hotel, boasting five-star quality, is conveniently situated just 2km from the Cresta Shopping Centre providing the ultimate destination for golf tournaments and golf groups.

The Fairway has 62 hotel rooms and 14 double storey golf villas – each with four en suite rooms – including 35 luxury rooms, 16 premier rooms, one paraplegic room, two suites and eight family rooms. Conference facilities, which open up onto a private deck showcasing the striking view of the golf course, accommodate up to 130 delegates.

DBM Architects, the architectural firm responsible for the contemporary and cutting-edge design of the Fairway Hotel, alongside DIAD – Darley Interior Architectural Design – ensured that the design, while groundbreaking in many aspects, would pay homage to the clubhouse – which has undergone an extensive refurbishment itself.

The hotel, African contemporary in its architectural style, boasts strong natural elements evident in the stone-clad curved spine wall which intersects the public space and flows from the entrance through to the deck. “These natural elements are contrasted with glass and plastered surfaces expressed in a clean and modern manner to create an elegant and timeless building which sits comfortably next to the existing clubhouse,” says DBM Architects.

Just as much consideration was given to the interior of the hotel as to the exterior. Keeping the golf course as the main feature, Nowadays Interiors focused on adding a splash of glitz and colour to the interior of the hotel. “Our main inspiration was the natural shine of different materials,” says Cathrin Matthee, designer and project manager of Nowadays Interiors. “We combined metallic, velvet, vinyl and sheers to make it warm and inviting.”

Nowadays Interiors, teaming up with professional furnishing textile company, Home Fabrics, ensured that the colour palette maintained a sophistication featuring trendy mineral and metallic colours such as Zinc, Gunmetal and Bronze ingeniously combined with more gentle, natural tones such as Angora, Ivory and Feather.

The Fairway boasts a green stamp of approval – complying with the recommendations and directives of the South African Green Building Council in terms of design, detailing and construction. Initiatives include focus on water heating (which will occur via a central boiler system operating on gas), air conditioning (a central chiller plant will be employed), and lighting (which will be intelligently controlled and switched on/off automatically throughout the passages via movement sensors) as well as storm water management, construction waste management and grey water recycling.

The Roundabout Bar, while offering striking views over the greens, provides guests with a place to rejuvenate and unwind, with a relaxed and contemporary ambience, while the Bar Verve provides the perfect venue for an after work drink or business meeting. The Balata Restaurant, striking in its appearance with its burnt orange decor, offers guests mouth-watering breakfasts as well as fine dining.

Keeping on track with mental wellness, engage your senses in the hotel’s fabulous day spa (www.guvonhotels.co.za). As with most up-to-date spa facilities, this spa’s extensive hydrotherapy facilities include a Rasul chamber (which is a traditional Middle-Eastern method of exfoliation and cleansing), a heated relaxation pool, a chill pool as well as a sauna and steam room.

Synonymous with excellence, the Fairway Hotel will capture the heart and soul of all who enter through its elegant threshold.
