Situated within one of Johannesburg’s most sought after lifestyle estates, this home is testimony to the owners’ sense of impeccable style and taste.
The beauty of the home lies not only in its high-fashion finishes and design, but also in its functionality and ease of flow. Although having to follow the strict criteria of the estate’s building regulations, the family was still able to add their own personal touch to the home to complement their need for space and ease of living.
Although within a residential estate, the country surroundings and vistas provide the residents with the added pleasure of country living and renders the feeling of being miles away from the hustle bustle of urban-day living and working.
Built over four stands, overlooking all three lakes within the estate, this location was chosen not only for its privacy and stunning views, but also because it would give the family a home to live in for years to come.
Every small detail was accounted for when designing this home. Even from the first view before entering the home, the grand surrounding landscape, designed and planted by Liquid Landscapes, sets the tone of things to come.
With immaculate attention to detail and using only the finest products and finishes, the family could not have asked for anything better. Ensuring the serene environment can be enjoyed from most parts of the home, the surroundings were incorporated into the modern architectural design through the use of large windows and glass doors that lead onto balconies, enabling the family to enjoy the views from different angles.
Floor-to-ceiling windows surround the front of the home, allowing an abundance of natural light to filter through and create a warm and welcoming feeling throughout the living areas.
From the first moment you enter the home you are immediately struck by the owner’s exquisite taste and attention to detail, which is marvelously displayed through the finishes, clean lines and uncluttered interiors. The interiors are decorated with elegant modern furnishings set against a neutral and natural palette of hues.
Contrasting colours create an element of visual appeal as shades of brown and beige fill the home while contrasting artworks and accessories fill each room with a personality of its own.
A sophisticated and harmonious combination of natural stone, marble flooring, glass and wood has resulted in organically streamlined and modern spaces that are at the same time beautiful and livable. This consistency of planning and design was even carried through into the bathrooms. Each of the three en suite bathrooms as well as guest bathroom was carefully designed to be functional as well as luxurious and relaxing.
By using only the best products, a careful selection of tiles, fittings and sanitaryware were all supplied by New Anchor and were the perfect choice to bring each bathroom to life. Although the home is spacious, convenience and ease of living were paramount and therefore the owners wanted to make it as comfortable as possible. The bellowing staircase, which is a visually striking focal point separating the two levels of the house, connects the living areas with the three main private bedrooms.
Due to the family’s love for reading and books, the library played a major role in the design of the home – the house opens up and makes this sanctuary easily accessible from any of the surrounding rooms.
With entertainment always on the mind and offering everything under one roof, the living areas were created to promote open-plan living with a seamless flow from each area. However the sporting and specific entertainment rooms were kept separate to ensure privacy. A home theatre, gym, squash court and pool are each housed separately giving the family peace of mind when relaxing in the comfort of the rest of the home or entertaining guests.
