Win A Home – Episode 6

The Win a Home Season 5 Design Duos have conquered the guest bedroom and spare bedroom double room challenge with Team R&K and Team Contrast Control tying for the winner spot.

Next up the Duos had the task of transforming their bathroom’s in their units at the Paardevlei Lifestyle Centre. As is the case with many challenges, this was no easy feat.

The boys from Team Contrast Control took the challenge in the end but it was a close one as all the Design Duos did a superb job in transforming their bathroom spaces into some truly amazing luxurious rooms.

The next challenge for Team Contrast Control, Team Perma Peeps & Team R&K is one of the bigger rooms they’ll need to tackle – the master bedroom!

The contestants will meet their next mentor, Sarah Ord, a renowned interior designer whose speciality is colour. Full-on, saturated, multi-hued and patterned themes are the name of her game.

Sarah will play mentor to each Design Duo briefing them and guiding them as they compete to completely transform the main bedroom into a masterpiece which will impress the judges while staying in line with their respective magazine client’s briefs.

Sarah Ord has a reputation built on her love for colour and eclectic styles and has completed residential projects in Mauritius to London, Cape Cod and in Cape Town.

The Design Duos will also meet their next local art collaborators. These local artists and designers will work together with the contestants on a bespoke piece of art for their master bedroom space.

Team R&K meet up with Cape Town fine artist Emma Nourse for their master bedroom collaboration. Emma’s works have been featured in notable galleries around SA including the reputable Salon 91 on Kloof Street in Cape Town. It’s going to be a truly interesting combination between the fine artist and the glam influence team that is Team R&K.

Team Contrast Control team up with Candice Lawrence, the owner of Modern Gesture, a local furniture designer based in Cape Town. Modern Gesture produces lighting, homeware and even small stationery products from their studio in the Southern Suburbs. Modern Gestures approach to exploring various production techniques & Team Contrast Control’s eclectic design approach will make for a great collaboration!

Finally, the permaculture team, Team Perma Peeps team up with Carol Saayman, the owner of a Cape Town-based curtain, blinds and shutters company. Carol specialises in all forms and styles of curtains & comes highly recommend the many clients her company has done work for. What could the Perma Peeps have in mind for their collaboration?
